Goto Believe Team Building 2018

I do believe in an organization... teamwork, camaraderie and getting along with each other is the primary goal to survive. Everything will fall like a stack of cards if each one of them doesn't settle their differences and work as one. Thats why it is important for companies to have team buildings to keep the team spirit alive. I was invited to photograph Goto Believe's Team Building activities at Blue Pavilion Resort in Infanta, Quezon. Through my lens I witnessed hardwork, patience, and the love for each other in facing their challenges. I have to give my appreciation to Buklod for facilitating this wonderful event.

They have this activity where they are asked to squeeze out all the contents of the toothpaste from the tube which for me is probably one of the most satisfying thing I wanna do in my life. Coz you don't do that at all unless you're a psychotic person who eats toothpaste for breakfast. Squeezing that out gives you an undescribable feeling that really feels good. Then after doing so, the facilitator asked them to put back all the toothpaste back in the tube!!! Which for me is quite hard thing to do. The team who gets the most toothpaste back inside the tube wins... The lesson for this is that its easy everytime you want to say something to someone but its really hard if you take it back. Thats why its important to mind what you say to other people. If you have nothing good to say, just shut up and  keep it to yourself.

Then there is this activity where one of your teamate  needs to reach a toothpick without stepping, crossing, falling nor touching you body parts onto  the sand. Its impossible to reach it alone so your teamates have to hold onto you and support you in order to gain balance and stability. Being flexible is not enough. You still have to rely on your teamates to finish this task. This is a great learning experience where one must support each other in order for the team to achieve its goals. Its not easy but when you have each others back (or torso or leg), any task is possible!

Any obstacles is manageable if you just work together and if you work smart. That blue marble should travel from one half-tube on to the another. It seems to be an easy thing to do. But if you dont talk, dont listen or simply dont cooperate well, that marble will easily fall. Proper coordination + teamwork and working smart is the key for a team to be successful. Add also to have a pair of steady hands as well...

Besides all the activities, there are also lectures worthy of listening. There was this part where they teach you how to save money. Everytime you want to buy something like shoes, clothes..that phone. You have to save 3 times the amount of that thing in order for you to buy it. For example, if that phone costs  20,000 pesos, you must save at least 60,000 pesos in order for you to buy it. In that way, you still have enough savings just in case you really need the money. It also adds a feeling of guilt buying that gadget. To the point that you dont want to buy it anymore. If you can live without it, dont buy it. Just save it. If you really want to have it, you must pay the price.

I learned a lot from this team building. Teaches you how to talk to each other. How to be sensitive. How important to suggest what to do not just criticise. Its really about the delivery. How you communicate well. How to say it properly in a peaceful manner.  I am so grateful being there. Even though Im only at sidelines listening. Its an eye opening experience. To the staff of Goto Believe, What they have as a group, as co-workers, as a company, they have something really wonderful. They just have to hold on to it dearly.

I envy them for having people who backs you up when you need them the most. Its not really an organization. You dont call them just workmates nor co-workers. You call them family. Something that you will truly cherish for life.

Many thanks to Goto Believe specially to the beautiful Ms. Sandra and her awesome staff. To Sands, its her 2nd family! She dreamt of something. Believed in it. Worked hard to achieve it. Now its a reality!  And it's growing bigger and bigger! Im so proud of you Sands! Keep it up!  To Sir Gary and the all the staff and facilitators of Buklod, thank you for the knowledge. Such a great experience. And to Blue Pavilion resort for the wonderful venue. To Sir Jelo and Mam Sharon thank you so much. You have been really accommodating inspite of tthe storm. Thank you Thank you Thank you! Its been a great honor. Till next time.

Love Wins

Photo above is  my first Gay marriage coverage. My fist of its kind. They actually got married in Australia. This is more like a reception already and actually a fancy intimate dinner with close friends and family. I already posted this photo in my facebook page and I quoted - " No matter how complicated a relationship as it may be, regardless of the color of your skin, race, ethnicity nor gender. If you are meant for each other - Love Wins.

I never made a blogpost for the longest time. For some reason, blogging became a little off to me. I dunno. Maybe I already lost it. Before I used to blog almost about everything. Everything beautiful that I see. But now, all of those is just a thing of history. These past months... probably a year actually, I was never happy. I was actually depressed. Even though it seems like I have everything I need. I feel empty. Its like living in the dark. Struggling to get through. Its just sad.

Anyway, the year is almost done and I don't want to end it on a sad note. I do believe that 2019 will be a great year. I just have to believe in myself. Be positive. And work smarter. Im already there to be honest. I just have to work on it even more. I just need to focus. Focus whats coming, not what was left.

Barbaras

Theres this place in intramuros which is worth visiting... this place called Barbaras just beside San Agustin Church in Intramuros is one of those places worth dining in. Food theres is really delicious. The place is rich with images of our culture during the spanish era. its like a blast from the past experience.

took photos of their buffet. I have to work fast because i only have a 30 minute timeframe before the guests arrive at the banquet. I would like to thank Sir Carl for accommodating us with the shoot.

The place looks really good.... and the food is superb. I really love the paella... and their coffee jelly for dessert. absolutely delicious!

Every night, they have a cultural show which showcases the different kinds of dances our ancestors has been doing for the longest time. Folk dances from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

At first i find it kinda... not so entertaining but as they go along.. ok din pala sya... I mean.. its good.. its unique.. with their flashy costumes... interesting dance moves.. i can say im more of a Filipino on that night coz i discovered that we have something of our own that is really good and people from different countries applaud in delight. It was fascinating actually.

But all throughout the night, i was mesmerized by this girl who is playing the bass.. not only she was pretty, she was really good! I was actually imagining her rockin with the bass guitar in a rock concert.. She would be really hot if ever...

Then there was the highlight of the show where the audience had the chance give our national dance a try - the tinikling. It was really something looking at people from different cultures dance the tinikling..and they were good.. i am a filipino and i dont even know how to do it.. if ever my i'd had a broken foot by now..
it was such an experience... its like i was in the spanish era where kalesas, katipuneros and civil guards roam the streets of Manila...those cobblestone streets, old churches and antique houses mainly gave that old school manila feeling... it was fun.. it was fun shooting this one... i really had a great time.  I want to thank again Sir Carl for the warm hospitality and also to Ms.Sheree for bringing me at Barbaras for the photoshoot. Good times!

Gil and Ina's Wedding

Its Gil's wedding! The countdown is finally over as Gil and Ina tied the knot at San Agustin Church in Intramuros. Its such a beautiful wedding! Im so happy for Gil because he's waiting for this for quite some time now. I didnt bring a camera with me on that day... good thing my friend EJ brought a dslr but hes kinda reluctant to use it... Due to my undying eagerness to capture moments, i borrowed it and took some snaps. It was my first time to use a Canon camera on  a wedding and it was quite impressive!

I told myself not to bring a camera coz i wanted to enjoy the wedding as a guest, not as a photographer...But then again, i enjoyed taking photos rather than just sitting around. Took this one when they were on their way out and man i was so happy for the great capture! Never seen Gil so happy like this ever before...

of course there's the production team to back him up! These guys look really fine and dandy! We also had a our lovely Anne Cua and Kannika! Its so good to see them once again!

Ze lovely ladies of production team! Tracy always has this really curvy and voluptuous pose...

they are like the batman and robin of the creative writing department of the production team...

of course our lovely boss Ms. Mara who looks stunning in her green dress..

As the bride and groom started to enter, the party has just begun!

Mel actually won the garter wearing ceremony and boy she was nervous! Its her 1st actually!

The traditional cutting of the cake! Gil got a big slice from inah...Gil didn't mind.. :)

the lovely Anne Cua with our soldier of love Marky!

Angel came! These three ladies are surely missed at the production area...

getting crazy at the photobooth. This was ej's challenge, to fit the entire production team inside the frame. Good thing it did! Thanks to Pop Picture for the great photobooth photos!

Gil with his wacky Mr. Pogi pose!

After that long delicious dinner, we are all full and happy... you can actually see it in our faces! Busog!!!! :)

Thank you so much Gil for inviting us. It was a really awesome and wonderful wedding. We all had a good time. Best wishes to you and Ina.

DeoBC Salon Photoshoot

We had a deal at DeoBC salon and i was asked to take before and after portraits of our officemates and boy the transformation was mind blowing. Mel, one of our new graphic artist were up to the task of modelling and i think it was just her 1st week...and we actually kinda forced her to do this.. It was a total surprise actually. After all the hair and make-up our jaws just fell....
Our next model was Rona who just came from a long ordinary straight hair to these lovely curls! I posted this photo onto my facebook  page and bam!!! likes are pouring in like mad crazy!  The hair stylists and make-up artists at DeoBC salon are really amazing! Good job!

Lovely and Christian's Prenup Sneak-peeks

Ms. Love from HR asked me if I could do their prenup...well, of course i can do that.. I just gave them a disclaimer that im not really a wedding photographer and they said its alright.. they trust my work and we gave it a go!

We went to Camp Crame (its actually quite having a prenup there but might as well give it a shot) at a very hot and scorching day...  It was almost noon and the sun is raging like hell.... im sweating like im in a basketball game but still managed to be the on the top of my game. Had my gear up, rigged my lights and fired using my telephoto on this shot...Bokeh is really sweet with the 70-300 f/4 nikkor lens...

its quite hard doin the poses coz i always wanted it to be as natural as possible. I made them talk... i made them crack jokes to each other.. i wanted them to feel relaxed... and i just pointed the camera at them then click and click and click....

As much as possible i opted not to take a glimpse at the viewfinder....i tried to avoid chimping as much as possible coz i might miss that kodak moment... like this one right here...

I owe it to all those wedding magazines, wedding photographers who share their tips and techniques. Covering a prenup..or a wedding is quite challenging coz you really have to be good because are precious moments that you need to document and it gives you that feeling that you are carrying the world on your shoulders... But you should learn to accept the challenge.. do good... and always remember this quote.. "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail..." its applicable not just in photography, but also in everyday life...... im planning it to be tattooed onto me someday for me to remember....

Many thanks to Love and Chris!

Back in Paradise, Calaguas 2013

If theres one place in the Philippines that I'd go back from time to time, this is the spot. "This" is the beach! Nothing beats Calaguas beach in Camarines Norte. Nothing! The beach is simply amazing. Crystal blue waters. Sugar like sands.. Its paradise. This is my 2nd time here and im still in awe. So far, its one of my favorite destinations here in our country.

Here, there is no electricity, your phone wont work here, no signal...no computers.. no internet!!! Its like you're unplugged from reality.  i dont mind the long travel..12 hours to be exact. 10 hours inside the van., eventually you'l suffer from minor butt cramps... then., another 2 hour boat ride.. a long... rough boat ride going to the island. Its rough depending on the winds... sometimes its wild and tumbly yet sometimes its nice and smooth. No matter what it may be, just enjoy the waves...

jo doing yoga on high noon...
I really want to thank Jocy for inviting me to this trip. It was a pretty normal day at work, I was inside the studio and she asked me if I wanna go to Calaguas.. Since its the long weekend..and I got no plans at all.. i just said.. Sure.. lets go! I always wanted to hit the beach coz i miss it so much.... Im addicted to burying my feet into the sands and im craving for that feeling for quite some time now. I never thought twice.. i just said yes.. then I went home, packed and left.

i am now a fan of iPhone 4S's camera
powdery white!
Nothing but powdery white sand all over.. i just love it. I wanna also give thanks to Jo for entrusting me with her phone coz i dont have a camera with me. Yes. I left my camera at the studio and I kinda felt bad coz i really want to take photos that time. She lend me her iPhone and told  me to snap away!  This is the first one that came to me.. took a photo of  how fine and white the sands of Calaguas.. Its amazing. I just hope they dont commercialize the beach so much to the point its like Boracay already. People are starting to bring generators in the island. They'r messin up the harmony, the peace and quiet of the beach...that natural high of the sounds of the waves, sound of crickets...that clasping sounds of twigs burning in the bonfire..those are the things that should be... not disco lights, rave music and worst, endless crap of Gangnam Style and Harlem Shake.

From right, that is Jed, who basically owns this blog called BiyaherongBarat.com and he organizes group trips in some of the best places in the country. He's also one of the founders of Biyaheng Lokal who does the same thing. Im happy to be a part of this trip coz these guys are just amazing. Trip is full of laughs., great food.. bonding.. Its an escape actually. Its what i need at the moment. Next to Jed is Camille who happens to be one of the coolest girl ever. Her tattoos are awesome! She is a great writer with some of the best magazines in the metro. She loves San Miguel Pale Pilsen, Red Horse beer and Jack Johnson which definitely raised her "astig" meter to the next level. Like jocy she loves doin yoga under scorching heat... Next to her is Jocy., who happens to be "one" with the beach.. you can actually see it in her tan..w/c looks nice by the way...

With us, a group of friends from Cebu and they are celebrating a birthday party at the beach! They even have full props...balloons, plackards, customized headbands, a red ribbon chocolate cake and i guess those faces are some of their friends who  can't make it to Calaguas... Looking at them is just amazing coz their bonding is rock solid! They sing together, they crack jokes together and laugh all at the same time. They lay on the sand looking at constellations, waiting for UFO's and counting shooting stars together.. Its friendship at its finest.  I took the liberty of taking a photo of em' while doing their thing. I have this inert feeling that i need to capture that moment. I snatched, borrowed Jed's camera and took this picture...

this is what beach bummin' looks like
I really had a great time. Every cent that i paid for this trip is all worth it. Imagine you're at the beach.. having grilled fish... and some ice cold beer.. then theres another shot of Emperador orbiting around... and theres some of that Good stuff happenin.. all of these we did it with the sounds of the waves at the background under moonlit skies....as the crows patrol the area. Its close to perfection. Sobrang swabe lang. Thats me bago masunog.

grabbed the photo from Jed's Facebook. Group shot! I look like crap.
I also met this kid who talks  like a thirty year old... his name is Kio.. He's just amazing.. his imagination.. his crazy pick-up lines... i must admit, without his presence, the trip would be a little dull... This kid has a bright future ahead of him. I just hope he would use his smarts and wits into doing something good.. not bullying gradeschoolers and harassing chicks of his age.. haha..even chicks older than his age!  He's just so good at those! hehe. My favorite lines from Kio are : "Kuya Jed!!! Pinupulikat na ba yung puso mo? " (Is your heart suffering from cramps?)..  "Nganga!" , "Sige bye~ ", "Grade 4 ako, dapat mo akong galangin.."  Hahahaha.. I'd never said anything like that when I was in grade 4... This kid is really something!

Watch out for more trips from  Biyaherong Barat and Biyahe Lokal. You dont have to think about anything.. You just have to relax and njoy the ride..Its affordabe.. you have good company, and its a lot of fun! and... They cook the best tinolang manok!

Jocy's iPhone. (Thanks Jo!)

The Tattoo Wives Photoshoot at P&P Tattoo

To be honest, i really find women with tattoos...very sexy, alluring and hot. Im actually lost in words to describe them. This is a great privilege shooting at P&P Tattoo in Makati. Many thanks to my officemate, Rona, for inviting me at this shoot. She is writing a blog titled " The Tattoo Wives ". She needs portraits of these lovely ladies who are the wives of Tattoo artists. It was a lonely friday night and I got nowhere else to go but home and I was glad Rona saved me. Me and my other officemate EJ worked our cameras and lights for this one of a kind shoot.

Raquel and Carol were very easy to work with. They were like professional models actually. They know how to pose, how to project, and they were very patient. The first location was at the Hotel room. I played with my lights on this one using a 2-strobe set-up. I placed my huge softbox umbrella top left and another speedlight on the right with an improvised snoot. The shadows at the back are kinda weird..but..i dunno it kinda looks cool though.. I made this one black and white to add a little drama..

I really wanted to highlight Raquel's rose tattoo in this picture.

We went downstairs to the tattoo parlor and images are starting to flicker inside my head. I thought of something like this. I wanted to capture Carol, in her fair white skin, being inked., like her first time... Again placed my ever reliable softbox umbrella top left.. and another speedlight with a snoot on lower right of the model. I really want that dark background to conceive the clutter from behind. Im happy with this one. This is one of my favorite photos from the shoot.

Its Raquel's turn and I also asked her to do the same pose but this time in her arm. Id like to thank Francis, Rona's husband for being so cooperative.

I made Francis and Rona a portrait. I find this one really nice. Francis is one of P&P Tattoo's premiere tattoo artists. He's one of the best in his craft.

Like I said earlier, i am really honored to be part of this photoshoot. I had fun and I really had a great time.  This is actually my first time to shoot inside a tattoo parlor. Not only that, this is my first time to do a portrait shoot with  tattooed women! Another addition to my portrait porfolio, something new. Maiba naman hindi puro food... :)  I wanna thank again Rona for this one., for the invite. I wanna thank our lovely models, Carol and Raquel. I also wanna thank Francis.. i dragged him to do the poses.. and also to my fellow photographer E.J. for lending me his extra flash.. thanks bro! Id love to have another shoot like this someday.
Visit Rona's awesome blog about the Tattoo Wives at lippiestick.blogspot.com

Another happy shoot. It was tiring but very fulfilling.
